SMART PARKING SOLUTION with Innovative Vision Sensor

Over the years, parking operators has been faced with environmental and economic pressure, industry is reexamining how and where parking is provided and developing a more smart way to improve operational efficiency, to build green and safe environment. By new advanced technologies, innovative approaches and sustainable solutions to parking is leading the way to the future Smart Parking.

Average estimates from studies show that 30% of traffic in the central business districts of cities is caused by people looking for parking.  Studies show that congestion causes a huge waste of fuel and related carbon emissions. The level of vehicles miles traveled is a major variable in oil demand and transportation emissions. Studies of 15-block areas in New York and Los Angeles found that drivers circling for parking traveled about 366,000 and 950,000 excess miles, respectively.

According to a new report from Navigant Research, ¡°The parking industry is going through its biggest evolution since the introduction of the first parking meters in Oklahoma City in 1935,¡± says Eric Woods, research director. ¡°It is being transformed by new technologies that are increasing operational efficiency and customer expectations, and by new perspectives on the role of parking within cities.¡±

From an operations perspective, SeeVider believes that the concept of Smart parking is not only the ability to access, collect, analyze parking usage information and electronic/mobile payment system, but also has to include energy efficiency through lighting control and safer facility management through security monitoring. In the future, this will form part of a growing "Internet of Things" bringing devices, systems and people closer together – greatly improving the speed and efficiency of the world around us.

In order to realize Smart Parking Operation, SeeVider developed all in one solution as an integrated system through Vision Sensor for the benefit of parking industries. Vision Sensor that can be integrated or attached with lighting system and is patent pending, intelligent software algorithms embedded with vision sensor for motion/occupation detection, real time information of parking space availability and usage, parked car location finder, light control to save energy consumption, security monitoring and mobile apps for parking guidance and information are major components of Smart Parking solution we are providing.

Parking is a $25 billion industry that¡¯s seen little innovation in past decades. Applicable parking facilities for Smart Parking include four major service models: airport and hospital, on-street municipal, universities and large retail/hotel/event venues, and commercial parking garages and municipally operated facilities.

All-in-one solution for Parking GuidanceInformation, Energy Saving and Security Monitering

  • Vision Sensor for motion/occupation detection for lighting controland parking space finder

  • Creatively utilizes Lighting system: The very cost effective and easy to install solution than competing solutions

  • Energy Saving with Lighting Control: Save up to 80% of energy consumption through Dimming control

  • Security monitoring and Alerting: Scheduled Monitoring and Real time Alert

  • Process and Information can be managed by server and can be accessed by smart phone, mobile devices and PCs.

Simple and Cost Effective Parking Guidance and Information

Drivers travelling within urban cores spend a significant amount of their time looking for suitable parking space.  The Study, by UCLA Urban Planning Professor and parking expert Donald Shoup, found that up to 45% of traffic in Brooklyn in New York is generated by motorists circling blocks looking for parking space. The same study estimated that in Westwood Village, a Los Angeles neighborhood, motorists drove 950,000 excess miles in search of parking, a distance equivalent to 38 trips around the earth. To cover this distance, 47,000 gallons of gasoline were used, and 730 tons of CO2 were emitted.  IBM surveyed 30 cities and found that drivers in 30 urban areas spent 19.5 minutes looking for parking once near their destination.

Parking guidance systems are becoming more popular as a means of directing parkers to the nearest available space, resulting in the elimination of excessive searching for a space, a reduction in vehicle emissions, and more efficient utilization of the parking supply. These systems can be implemented for a single multi-level parking structure or on an area-wide basis in an urban area. Connected consumers will likely become accustomed to paying more for parking in exchange for added convenience of automated guidance to available parking spots.

  • Reduce time wasted looking for spaces

  • Reduce incidents/accidents

  • Reduce fuel and emissions wasted

  • Reduce time to locate the parked car

  • Improve customer loyalty in a competitive market

Parking Guidance System today has been recently installed by using Ultrasonic or Occupation Sensors and LED Indicator to detect car existence on the parking bay, which requires cumbersome wiring for power supply and network connection and installation process. SeeVider Vision Sensor can automate to collect the real time information of parking space availability and usage, parked car location, and mobile apps for parking guidance and decision information through map and navigation data.

LightingControl for Energy Efficiency

Lighting has been inefficient and inflexible for the last 100 years so energy has not evolved and been wasted: lights are on in unoccupied areas and rooms are consistently over-lighted. Lighting system of parking building usually lights on 24hours 7days and outside parking lots are also light on after the sunset without smart control. Parking industry is now beginning to use Occupation/Motion sensor to control energy consumption and to reduce carbon gas emission through the use of dimming control and timers, which is very effective, but is limited use for the lighting control only.

Vision sensor on lighting system has 3-4x longer sensing range and precise detection capacity than PIR or Microwave based Occupancy Sensor, which has widely been used in the market. It can save up to 70% energy consumption. Timer or scheduling function to manage Lighting system can be integrated and managed by Vision sensor¡¯s operating system.

Inexpensive SecurityMonitoring and Real Time Alert

Federal Statistics show that 80% of criminal acts reported police at the shopping centers and business offices occur in the parking facilities and lots. To deter  crime, To detect crime, Vision Sensor integrated or attached to existing lighting fixtures is the most economic and effective solution for ad hoc security measures in addition to CCTV and IP based surveillance cameras has been installed for overall security measures in parking garage and lot, commercial, Industry, government, military buildings.

  • Localized security management

  • Ad hoc incident recording and storage

  • Real time alert against incident
